Kids Ministry
Preschool
We believe that even the youngest little ones need to hear about and experience the love of Jesus Christ. Our teachers and volunteers provide activities, songs, and lessons about Jesus and His Love for babies through Kindergarten children each time they attend any of our Preschool Ministry programs.
Elementary
It is important that an Elementary child continue to hear, learn, and experience God’s Love. We desire to assist parents in the continuation of laying the spiritual foundation that will eventually lead to the child’s decision to accept Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior.
The leaders in our Elementary Ministry focus on teaching the children about the Bible through discussion, games, crafts, songs, and other activities. It is our desire that children are not only taught truth from God’s Word, but also how to apply His Word to their daily lives.
Midweek Kids
We are excited that your kiddo will be joining us, and we look forward to partnering with you in building the faith of your child! Our goal is to help kids to know Jesus Christ, and to grow in a relationship with Him.
Upward Sports
Yearly we offer Upward Basketball and Cheerleading. It is a great opportunity for kids to begin and gain skill in organized sports. Upward is Christ-centered. We give every kid equal time to play and balance the teams skill levels so there is great competition and fair play. Upward is great for beginners and seasoned players alike.

Who does our ministry include?
Our Kids ministry provides a biblical experience that includes Babies through 5th Grade.
What is my child doing in Kennesaw First Kids Ministry?
Kennesaw First offers a safe and engaging space for children to learn about Biblical truths and the love of God in developmentally appropriate ways.
- After checking in, your child will be placed in an age-specific classroom where they will participate in interactive teaching, games and activities to reinforce Biblical content, and small-group time.
What’s available on Sunday Mornings?
Children:
- Life Groups: 9:30 AM
- Kids Worship: 11 AM (Grades 1-5)
- Except on the last Sunday of the month when they attend the Worship Service with parents.
Preschool:
- Life Groups: 9:30 & 11 AM
What’s available on Wednesday Nights?
Midweek Kids runs from 6:30- 7:30 PM on Wednesday nights during the school year for Babies- 5th Grade.
How can I get involved?
The Children and Preschool Ministries are some of the most influential mission fields that you can be a part of as we lay the foundation for little ones to have a personal relationship with Christ. If you want to participate in a FUN, LIFE-CHANGING, and ETERNALLY SIGNIFICANT volunteer opportunity, contact our Kids Ministry Director, Heather Smith.
Will my child be safe?
- Your child’s safety is one of our highest priorities. Here’s how we create a secure and welcoming environment:
- Secure Check-In: When you check in, you’ll receive matching identification stickers. Your child will wear a name tag, and you’ll keep the matching tag, ensuring only you can pick them up.
- Safe Pick-Up: To pick up your child after the service, simply show your matching tag to their Kennesaw First Kids Ministry leader.
- Trained Leaders: Every Kennesaw First Kids volunteer completes a background check and is trained by our staff to provide safe, high-quality care.
- Monitored Hallways: Background-checked security personnel monitor the hallways during every service.
- Parent Alerts: If we need to contact you, we’ll send a text or call you.
Meet the leaders
Heather Smith
Heather has faithfully served as the Preschool Director at Kennesaw First Baptist Church since June 2020, and has been a part of the Kennesaw First family for over 15 years. She and her husband, Corey, live in Acworth with their four children: Jaxon, Wyatt, Eden, and Isla. Heather holds a degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University and previously served as a teacher in Cobb County Schools. Her passion for teaching and discipling children began in her preteen years and has grown into a lifelong calling. Heather is excited to step into the role of Kids Ministry Director, where she looks forward to continuing her mission of pointing children to Jesus and partnering with families to help kids grow in their faith. Her heart is to create a safe, joyful, and Gospel-centered environment where every child feels known, loved, and equipped to follow Jesus.
Cierra Cassidy
Cierra brings a heart for young children and a strong foundation in early childhood education, having served as a preschool and kindergarten teacher at First Baptist Christian School since 2021. A devoted member of Kennesaw First for over ten years, Cierra is no stranger to our church family and has been faithfully involved in ministry during that time. She and her husband, Addison, live in Kennesaw with their two children, Riley and Rosie, along with their beloved Boston Terriers, Louie and Oreo. Cierra is passionate about helping little ones experience the love of Jesus in a nurturing, joyful, and faith-filled environment. We are excited for the energy and warmth she brings to this important role!
